The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong reminder to its staff on the proper authorization process for official travels outside the country . In a circular dated 17th September 2025 , and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.) , Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), GES emphasized that only Heads of Government Organizations are permitted to approve such requests.  This directive, which follows a communication from the Office of the President dated 22nd August 2025 with reference SCR/DB236/378/01/25/A , makes it clear that this authority cannot be delegated. BREAKING: Takoradi Technical Institute Student Sentenced for Stabbing Teacher . GES Introduces New Literature Text for BECE English Paper (2027–2031) The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the introduction of a new literature text for the English Language paper of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which will take effect from 2027 to 2031.  In a circular dated April 7, 2025, and signed by Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, the Service explained that the decision was informed by the full implementation of the Standard-Based Curriculum in Junior High Schools (JHS). The new text, The Beacon of Light, jointly published by Excellence and Elco Publications, has been reviewed and approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).
