GES has no clearance for recruitment of new teachers – GES

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, has revealed that the Service currently has no clearance for the recruitment of new teachers.

This was the theme of an official press release from GES dated 21st September 2025, following the circulation of a document on social media falsely attributed to him.

The fake press release claimed that the Management of Ghana Education Service was announcing steps to open a general portal for recruiting 50,000 fresh teaching and non-teaching applicants.

It further claimed that applicants were obliged to apply through the Ghana Education Service website or via a manual application. The document went on to specify that applicants would need to attach the following items to the regional office for validation after receiving appointment letters:

1. National ID

2. Passport Pictures

3. Educational Certificates

4. Birth Certificate

5. National Teacher Licensure Certificate (NTLC)

6. National Service Certificate

7. Active Email Address and Phone Number

8. Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) details

9. Bank Account Information

However, the GES issued an official counter-statement denying the letter and its contents. According to the Service, the letter circulating on social media claiming financial clearance for the recruitment of 50,000 teaching and non-teaching staff is FAKE and did not originate from GES. No such recruitment exercise has been announced yet.

The official release emphasized that when recruitment officially commences, it shall be communicated ONLY through the GES and Ministry of Education official outlets. Potential applicants for the 2025 GES recruitment have been advised to disregard the fake letter and report any fraudulent activities associated with it.

The counter release, however, did not indicate when GES will receive clearance for new teacher recruitment. It has now been nearly four months since the government disclosed plans to recruit 50,000 teaching and 10,000 non-teaching staff into the Service this year. With only three months left to end the year, many teachers are asking when the portal will finally be opened.

In a related development, a teacher who is eagerly waiting for the 2025 recruitment portal to be opened called on GES to respond to questions about the timeline. He complained that the Service often goes silent whenever the issue of recruitment is raised.

“GES is ready to answer any other issues but when it gets to recruitment issue p33 they can’t talk again,” he stated on the official GES Facebook page under the name Young Jnr. He challenged GES to prove him wrong by providing something tangible regarding recruitment this year, cautioning:

“Don’t come and tell us soon oo0.” GES responded directly, assuring him that recruitment will indeed take place. The reply read: “Young Jnr, recruitment will be done, my brother. You said I shouldn’t add ‘soon’, so I’ve left it out.”

At present, the Service maintains that there is no clearance for recruitment and warns the public to ignore fake notices until official communication is released..ation is released..
