GES has no clearance for recruitment of new teachers – GES

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, has clarified that the Service has not yet received clearance for the recruitment of new teachers.

His clarification formed the basis of an official release dated 21st September 2025, issued after a false statement, purportedly bearing his name, began circulating on social media.

The fabricated release alleged that the Management of GES was preparing to open the recruitment portal to engage 50,000 teaching and non-teaching staff. It further claimed that applications were to be submitted through the GES website or by manual processes.

The forged document went on to outline requirements to be presented to regional offices for validation after appointment letters were supposedly issued. These included:

1. National Identification Card

2. Passport Photographs

3. Academic Certificates

4. Birth Certificate

5. Teacher Licensure Certificate

6. National Service Certificate

7. Active Email Address and Contact Number

8. SSNIT Details

9. Bank Account Information

In response, GES issued a counter-release firmly rejecting the document and its contents. According to the Service, the statement circulating on social media is fake, did not originate from its offices, and no such recruitment exercise has been announced. Management stressed that any genuine recruitment will be officially communicated only through the GES and Ministry of Education’s recognized channels.

Prospective applicants have therefore been advised to disregard the fraudulent notice and report any suspicious activities connected to it.

While dismissing the false publication, the Service did not provide a date for when clearance for recruitment might be granted. Nearly four months have passed since government announced its intention to recruit 50,000 teaching and 10,000 non-teaching staff into the Service this year. With only three months left before the year ends, many are anxious about when the recruitment portal will be opened.

In a related instance, a teacher identified as Young Jnr expressed his frustration on the official GES Facebook page, questioning why the Service remains silent whenever the subject of recruitment arises. He challenged the Service to provide a concrete update, stating: “Don’t come and tell us soon oo0.”

GES responded directly, assuring him that recruitment will indeed take place. The reply read: “Young Jnr, recruitment will be done, my brother. You said I shouldn’t add ‘soon,’ so I’ve left it out.”

At present, GES maintains that there is no clearance for recruitment, and members of the public are urged to treat unofficial messages with caution until an authorized communication is released.
