Government reaffirms commitment to affordable internet for digital education.

Ghana is stepping up its commitment to digital learning by prioritizing affordable internet access nationwide and positioning education technology (EdTech) as a key pillar of its development strategy.

At the EdTech Stakeholder Forum 2025 in Accra, held under the theme “Innovating for the Future; Preparing Ghana's Workforce,” Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, highlighted that equitable connectivity remains essential for transforming classrooms and preparing students to meet the demands of the global economy.

According to Dr. Apaak, EdTech is not just about devices and platforms but about solving pressing challenges, bridging access gaps, and improving the quality of teaching and learning. To achieve this, the government is working with telecom operators, the private sector, and local communities to expand affordable connectivity and provide digital devices to schools that lack adequate resources.

The Ministry also plans to roll out extensive teacher training in digital pedagogy while investing in localized content that reflects the needs of learners across the country. This approach seeks to ensure inclusivity, with special attention to students in rural communities, learners with disabilities, and even refugee populations.

Dr. Apaak emphasized that Ghana’s digital education agenda is ultimately about inclusivity, ensuring every learner acquires the skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Experts and participants at the forum echoed these sentiments, pointing out that EdTech presents Africa with a powerful opportunity to transform education systems and build a more competitive workforce for the future.
