GES Issues Directive on Official Travels Outside Ghana
GES Reinforces Directive on Official Travels Outside Ghana.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong reminder to its staff on the proper authorization process for official travels outside the country.
In a circular dated 17th September 2025, and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), GES emphasized that only Heads of Government Organizations are permitted to approve such requests.
This directive, which follows a communication from the Office of the President dated 22nd August 2025 with reference SCR/DB236/378/01/25/A, makes it clear that this authority cannot be delegated.
The clearance requirement applies to staff across Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), State-Owned Enterprises, and other government institutions.
Within the education sector, Regional Directors of Education have been tasked to circulate the information to all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors as well as Heads of Pre-tertiary schools to ensure compliance.
GES also attached a copy of the Office of the President’s letter for reference, urging all staff to strictly observe the directive.
This policy forms part of government’s broader effort to streamline official travel procedures, enhance accountability, and promote effective public service management.
