Savannah College of Education SRC Responds to Management's Suspension of Academic Activities.

Savannah College of Education has been thrust into a state of uncertainty following the management's suspension of all academic activities until further notice, sparking widespread concern among the student body.

In response to this directive, the management, via a letter dated 4th March 2025, solicited a prompt response from the Students' Representative Council (SRC) regarding the suspension. Consequently, the SRC convened an emergency meeting with the student body and representatives from all programs and levels to deliberate on the matter.

Following extensive deliberations, the SRC has resolved that students in levels 100 to 300 will remain on campus in anticipation of a resolution, while level 400 students will return to their partner schools to continue their internship programs. This decision was made in the best interest of the students, taking into account the potential consequences of the suspension.

The SRC has emphasized that all academic activities will remain suspended until further notice, pending the outcome of a delegation sent to Accra to engage with the President and the Education Minister. The SRC is cautiously optimistic that the delegation's efforts will yield favorable results, thereby enabling the resumption of academic activities for students in levels 100 to 300.

The SRC has expressed its fervent hope that the delegation will return with positive news, which will invariably revitalize the academic pursuits of the students. This development would undoubtedly alleviate the uncertainty and anxiety that has gripped the college community.

It is pertinent to note that the suspension of academic activities at the college is a direct consequence of the recent student protests, which were orchestrated to seek clarification and resolution regarding the college's status. The SRC acknowledges the role of the student body in bringing attention to the matter and is committed to ensuring that their concerns are addressed.

In conclusion, the SRC has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a prompt resolution to the matter, thereby enabling students to continue their academic pursuits without further disruption. The SRC is working assiduously to ensure that the interests of the students are protected and that normalcy is restored to the college community.
