Savannah College of Education Halts Teaching Activities Amid Student Protests
Savannah College of Education Suspends Teaching Activities Due to Student Protests.
The management of Savannah College of Education, Daboya, has suspended all teaching and teaching-related activities following student protests on campus.
This decision was announced in a memo dated 4th March 2025, signed by the acting College Secretary on behalf of the Vice Principal.
The suspension comes in response to students blocking access to lecture halls and refusing to attend classes, creating disruptions to academic activities.
The memo instructed all tutors to stay away from campus and cease all academic engagements until further notice.
Management is awaiting formal communication from the Students' Representative Council (SRC), which should confirm their readiness for academic work to resume and provide assurances regarding the safety of tutors.
This communication is expected by the close of day on Wednesday, 5th March 2025. If no response is received within the given timeframe, management will announce the next course of action.
The memo also urges all stakeholders to remain calm while the college leadership works toward a resolution. Copies of the memo were shared with key figures, including the Principal, Finance Officer, College Librarian, Internal Auditor, and other important stakeholders such as the SRC President, Former SRC President, All Course Representatives, and the Chairman of CETAG.
The management expressed gratitude to the tutors for their patience and cooperation during this challenging period. They also reassured all parties that efforts are being made to restore normal academic activities while ensuring the safety and well-being of staff and students.
