MTN Ghana Schedules Temporary MoMo Service Interruption for System Upgrade

MTN Ghana has messaged that there will be a planned momo system upgrade starting from 12:00 am to 6:30 am on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

This announcement was sent out to all subscribers through official channels, including SMS notifications, social media updates, and the company’s website, to ensure that every customer is aware of the scheduled maintenance. This technical exercise will cause a temporary stop to all services on the MoMo platform during that time. The interruption will affect millions of users across the country, including individual customers, businesses, and merchants who rely on the platform for daily transactions.

The company explained that the upgrade is necessary to improve the way they deliver services to their customers. MTN Ghana emphasized that this technical enhancement is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the platform, improve processing speed, and ensure better security for all users. During the six-and-a-half-hour period, users will not be able to send money, pay bills, or perform any other transactions using the MoMo platform. Customers are therefore advised to plan ahead and complete any urgent transactions before the maintenance period begins to avoid inconvenience.

MTN has offered a sincere apology for any trouble this might cause and encourages all customers to take note of the time. The company also assured that the maintenance exercise is strictly preventive and designed to improve overall service reliability. This move is part of the company’s efforts to make its digital financial services better and more reliable for everyone. By carrying out these upgrades, MTN aims to ensure that the MoMo platform can continue to meet the growing demand for mobile money services across Ghana.

Normal service is expected to return immediately after the work is finished at 6:30 am on Sunday morning. Once the maintenance is completed, all users will be able to resume their usual financial transactions without restriction. MTN Ghana has urged customers to stay updated through official channels in case of any further announcements or notifications regarding the system upgrade.
