The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the nationwide teacher promotion examinations will proceed as scheduled on December 29th and 30th, 2025.
The examinations are strictly limited to shortlisted candidates who have been issued index numbers.
In a statement dated December 26, 2025, signed by the Ag. Deputy Director-General, Prof. Smile Dzisi, the GES outlined the examination schedule: Assistant Director II and Principal Superintendent candidates will write on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, while Assistant Director I and Deputy Director candidates will write on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, within the same timeframe.
The GES emphasized that candidate shortlisting was conducted in strict adherence to approved eligibility criteria and documentation requirements. Shortlisted applicants have been notified via official SMS, detailing their Staff ID, Index Number, and assigned Examination Centre.
To be permitted to write the examination, candidates must present a valid National Identification Card and clearly write their Staff ID and Index Number on all papers. The GES has warned that only candidates with index numbers will be allowed to participate in the examination.
Teachers who believe they were wrongly omitted from the shortlist can submit their last promotion letter and proof of application for the current cycle to their Regional Education Office for review and consideration.
The GES management has appealed for compliance, ensuring a smooth, credible, and well-coordinated promotion exercise. All enquiries should be directed to officially designated phone numbers and email addresses, as stated in the announcement.
