Ministry of Education Donates Toyota Land Cruisers to 20 Colleges of Education.
In a significant move to strengthen teacher preparation and institutional administration, the Ministry of Education has supplied brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to 20 Colleges of Education across the country.
The support was provided with funding assistance from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and coordinated through the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
The vehicle donation forms part of a broader strategy to improve the operational capacity of Colleges of Education. The new Land Cruisers are expected to facilitate official duties such as academic supervision, monitoring of teaching practice, community outreach, and other administrative assignments that demand dependable transportation. Officials indicate that access to reliable vehicles will improve efficiency in daily operations, particularly in areas that require frequent field movement, stakeholder engagement, and close supervision of academic activities.
Beyond logistics, the initiative reflects a renewed focus on improving working conditions within teacher training institutions. By equipping Colleges of Education with essential resources, the Ministry aims to create a more supportive environment for the training of competent and well-prepared teachers to serve at various levels of the education system.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and practical. Many have noted that transportation challenges have persisted in several Colleges of Education for years, limiting effective supervision and outreach. The provision of these vehicles is expected to address those gaps and contribute to improved outcomes in teacher training and classroom delivery.
The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained collaboration with GETFund and GTEC to invest in infrastructure, logistics, and human resource development. According to the Ministry, such investments remain essential to strengthening education delivery and improving standards across institutions. This latest intervention underscores ongoing efforts to build stronger Colleges of Education and support teachers through improved institutional capacity.
