Haruna Iddrisu Dismisses Claims of Dissatisfaction with His Appointment as Education Minister.

The Minister of Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, has strongly denied claims of dissatisfaction with his appointment, describing them as unfounded and misleading. 

Instead, he's exuding confidence and readiness, with a clear vision for the sector. He wants to assure Ghanaians that he's committed to making a meaningful impact.

In a recent Citi TV interview, Mr Iddrisu explained that his appointment followed extensive consultations by President John Dramani Mahama, aimed at revitalising Ghana's education system. He highlighted deep-seated structural and quality challenges across all educational levels, from basic to tertiary institutions. These challenges, he noted, require decisive leadership and action to ensure Ghana's education system produces skilled and knowledgeable citizens.

Mr Iddrisu believes his selection stems from trust in his expertise and judgment, and he's committed to justifying that trust. He cited his track record in public service as evidence of his dedication to results and accountability, assuring the public that he'll approach the education portfolio with similar seriousness and dedication. His experience in various ministerial roles has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to tackle the sector's challenges.

The Minister outlined a comprehensive vision focused on substantive reform, including a thorough review of Ghana's education framework. President Mahama appointed Haruna Iddrisu, leveraging his extensive experience in government, including roles as Minority Leader, Minister for Communications, and Minister for Employment and Labour Relations. His nomination was unanimously approved by Parliament after a rigorous vetting process, demonstrating his competence and suitability for the role.
