GES Sets the Record Straight on CPD Allowance and Teacher Recruitment Rumours.

Recently, a widely circulated message on social media has sparked concern among teachers nationwide, claiming that the Professional Development (CPD) and Digital Allowances had been cancelled.

The circulating information generated significant anxiety across the teaching community, prompting the leadership of the teachers’ representative forum to seek official clarification. To address the matter, they held a meeting with the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to obtain accurate information.

The discussions made it unequivocally clear that the delay in disbursing the CPD allowance was not the fault of the Ministry of Education or the Ghana Education Service (GES). Instead, the holdup resulted from a technical issue at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD), which temporarily disrupted the payment process.

The CAGD has now assured that the CPD allowance will be fully released in December, as previously scheduled, providing teachers with the reassurance that their entitlements will be honored without further setbacks.

The meeting also confirmed that no teacher recruitment exercises have been initiated by either the Ministry of Education or GES. Teachers are therefore advised to disregard any unofficial announcements suggesting otherwise, as only information released through official channels should be considered authentic.

GES reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Teachers’ Forum to address the challenges affecting educators across the country. Teachers are encouraged to remain patient and resilient as the government works to stabilise and streamline operations.

Furthermore, educators are urged to continue providing constructive feedback and practical recommendations that will support the growth and improvement of the education sector for the benefit of all stakeholders.
