Major Upgrade Announced for Mankraso SHS After Outstanding NSMQ Performance.

The Ministry of Education has confirmed a significant development for Mankraso Senior High School, following the school’s remarkable performance in the recently concluded National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

The government has officially added the school to its list of institutions scheduled for expansion under a national upgrading initiative.

Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, explained that the move aligns with efforts to strengthen high-performing schools and promote healthy academic competition across the country. Speaking in Accra on Wednesday, November 19, he stated that Mankraso SHS earned this consideration based on its commendable display in the national contest.

He noted that the broader programme will see 10 category B schools elevated to category A, and 10 category C schools upgraded to category B. Mankraso SHS has now been included in the ongoing review, with the Minister expressing appreciation for the school’s growing academic reputation.

The planned upgrade is expected to expand infrastructure, increase capacity, and provide an improved learning environment that supports strong academic outcomes and future participation in national competitions.

Additionally, the Minister announced that government intends to complete 30 community day senior high schools (e-blocks) under provisions made in the 2026 budget. He indicated that the $180 million allocation will focus on finalising these facilities to enhance access to quality secondary education.

These combined interventions, he said, aim to boost equitable access to well-resourced schools and ensure that more institutions are equipped to deliver effective teaching and learning.
