GNAT Orders Immediate Suspension of Association Cloth Distribution Amidst Administrative Review.
GNAT Orders Immediate Suspension of Association Cloth Distribution
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has directed an immediate halt to the ongoing distribution of its official association cloth across the country.
A circular signed by the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration and Labour Relations, Mr. Daniel Affadu, and dated November 13, 2025, instructed all regional and district secretaries to cease the exercise with immediate effect. The directive, which was also copied to the National President, emphasized that the order should be treated as urgent and binding.
While the communication did not state explicit reasons for the suspension, the decision has sparked considerable curiosity among members. The GNAT cloth, which bears the association’s emblem and motto, “We Live to Teach,” is widely regarded as a powerful symbol of identity, cohesion, and professional solidarity within the teaching fraternity.
Insiders suggest that the suspension may stem from administrative bottlenecks, procurement irregularities, or supply inconsistencies that require immediate review. The leadership’s recent focus on accountability and institutional integrity signals that the directive could be a preventive measure aimed at addressing underlying operational concerns.
Regional and district secretaries have been urged to communicate the directive swiftly to local branches to prevent misinformation or confusion among members.
Meanwhile, teachers across the country await a follow-up communication from the national secretariat, which is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the suspension and provide a revised timeline for the continuation of the distribution exercise.
