National Service Allowances to Be Increased — Acting Director-General

National Service allowances to be reviewed upward – Acting Director-General.

The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced a forthcoming increase in the monthly allowances of National Service personnel. According to Ruth Dela Seddoh, Acting Director-General of the NSA, discussions are at an advanced stage to finalize the proposed adjustment, which aims to provide significant relief to personnel currently receiving a monthly stipend of approximately GH¢715.

While details of the exact percentage increase remain undisclosed, Seddoh expressed confidence that the review will yield a substantial upward adjustment. She noted that the President has taken a keen interest in the matter, and the NSA is working to ensure that the allowances are adjusted in a manner that reflects current economic conditions. Seddoh emphasized that the talks have been positive, and personnel can expect a meaningful improvement in their allowances.

In a related development, the NSA has announced the commencement of online registration for the 2025/2026 service year, scheduled to run from October 8, 2025, to October 15, 2025. This initiative follows a presidential directive to develop a new, secure digital platform to enhance transparency, strengthen data security, and enable real-time verification. The move is part of a broader effort to reform the National Service scheme and address challenges identified in the previous system.

As part of the reforms, registrations completed in June 2025 have been declared invalid, and prospective personnel are required to re-register through the new system. The NSA is confident that these reforms, coupled with the anticipated allowance increment, will usher in a more efficient and supportive service experience for all personnel.

The NSA's commitment to improving the National Service experience is evident in its efforts to address the challenges facing the scheme. With the expected allowance increase and the introduction of a new digital platform, the Authority is poised to provide a better experience for personnel, enabling them to focus on their service to the nation with greater ease and confidence.
