How BECE Aggregates Are Calculated for 2025 SHS Placement.
How BECE Aggregates Are Calculated for 2025 SHS Placement. The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has clarified how aggregates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be calculated for Senior High School placement.
Officials explained that a candidate’s aggregate is determined by combining the grades from the four core subjects, English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies, together with the best two grades from the remaining subjects. In effect, the formula is: English + Mathematics + Integrated Science + Social Studies + two best subjects.
It was further emphasized that while aggregates remain important, raw scores are still the most decisive factor in the placement process. This means that when candidates have the same aggregate, the one with the higher raw score will be given priority, especially in competitive schools.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, parents, teachers, and candidates were reminded that the CSSPS portal is currently open for confirmation of school choices.
The portal can be accessed at https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login, with a 24-hour message service available to assist users who may have challenges or discrepancies.
According to GES, the portal will remain active until September 8, 2025, and all candidates are encouraged to log in and confirm their selections before the deadline. The Service has also invited feedback from the public to help improve the placement system and ensure transparency in the process.
