GES Reopens 2025 Teacher Promotion Applications.The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reopened applications for the 2025 promotion exercise, giving eligible teachers and officers another opportunity to apply for advancement to higher ranks.
The available positions include Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.
GES outlined that applicants for Deputy Director must have been promoted to Assistant Director I in or before 2021 and should have remained at post continuously, except for approved leave.
Similarly, candidates for Assistant Director I must have attained Assistant Director II status in or before 2021, while those seeking Assistant Director II should have been promoted to Principal Superintendent in or before 2021.
For the Principal Superintendent rank, teachers must have reached Senior Superintendent I in or before 2021. Teachers with an approved undergraduate degree will automatically be placed at the Principal Superintendent level.
The Service also highlighted requirements for accelerated promotion through advanced studies. Teachers applying with a Master’s or PhD qualification must ensure that the programme falls under GES-approved courses, and the certificate should not have been earned prior to their last promotion.
Additionally, applicants aiming for Assistant Director II, Assistant Director I, or Deputy Director must have completed their postgraduate study in or before 2023.

All documents must be submitted in PDF format, except for the passport picture, which should be in JPEG, JPG, or PNG. Clear and legible uploads are strongly advised.
The application window runs from Thursday, 11th September 2025, to Thursday, 2nd October 2025. GES has emphasized that teachers who previously applied must re-submit their applications under the reopened process.
