TTAG Announces New GTLE Modality and Examination Dates.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has announced a new phase in the administration of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), introducing a revised modality and timeline for candidates.

In a statement issued on August 25, 2025, the National Secretariat confirmed that the reform was developed in collaboration with the National Teaching Council (NTC) and the Ministry of Education to enhance credibility and efficiency in the licensure process.

According to the update, Level 400 trainees who will be sitting for the examination for the first time are scheduled to write between October 13 and October 15, 2025. Candidates who are resitting will, however, take their papers from October 27 to October 28, 2025, with the latter dates still tentative. The new system, TTAG emphasized, is meant to streamline the examination and align it more closely with contemporary teacher education standards.

The fees for the upcoming licensure examination were also disclosed. Fresh candidates are expected to pay an examination fee of GHC 450.00 in addition to an indexing fee of GHC 50.00. Further details, including registration procedures and examination guidelines, will be released by the NTC in due course to ensure candidates are adequately prepared for the transition.

TTAG assured all trainees that orientation sessions will be organized through Zoom to provide further clarification and guidance on the new process. These sessions, to be held across its administrative sectors, are intended to assist both first-time candidates and resitters in familiarizing themselves with the revised framework.

This development represents a major step in strengthening Ghana’s teacher licensure system. With TTAG working hand in hand with regulatory bodies, the new approach is expected to not only improve examination credibility but also reaffirm the broader goal of preparing a well-qualified and certified teaching workforce.
