The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) Releases in Second Phase of Teacher Trainee Allowances Across All Colleges
The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has successfully completed the second phase of allowance payments to teacher trainees across all 47 colleges of education. This round targeted trainees who had missed the earlier disbursement, covering five months for the first semester and an additional month for the second semester.
Nearly 10,000 trainees were included in this process, following a thorough pre-audit exercise to confirm eligibility and prevent discrepancies. Each qualified trainee received ₵1,000.00, slightly above the initial ₵980.00 calculation based on ₵196 per month. The increment aims to give trainees greater financial support as they continue their training.
Trainees have been advised to visit the nearest E-zwich vendor or bank to access their funds, ensuring that their E-zwich cards are active and in good condition before making withdrawals.
The SLTF noted that the pre-audit stage was instrumental in streamlining payments and ensuring outstanding allowances were cleared without delays. This achievement also reflects the government’s broader commitment to sustaining the teacher trainee allowance policy—an initiative that supports professional development while promoting financial inclusion.
By easing financial pressure, the disbursement enables future teachers to focus on their studies and prepare to make a meaningful impact in the classroom. This step adds to ongoing national efforts to strengthen the education sector through targeted support for those training to join the profession.
