Clarification on 2025/2026 Senior High School Academic Calendar
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a clarification regarding the 2025/2026 Senior High School academic calendar in a post on its official Facebook page on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Contrary to reports of a full return to the single-track system, the GES explains that the new academic calendar accommodates both single-track and transitional double-track schools. According to the GES, all first-year Senior High School students are to report on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to commence the academic year.
The closing dates for schools will differ depending on the track system. Single-track schools will end the academic year on August 21, 2026, while double-track (transitional) schools will close on September 4, 2026.
The GES urges parents, students, and the public to rely on official communications for accurate updates, rather than solely relying on speculations in some sections of the media.
This clarification aims to provide clarity and certainty regarding the academic calendar, ensuring a smooth start to the new academic year.
The GES's commitment to providing quality education and ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed is evident in their efforts to clarify the academic calendar.
By providing clear guidelines, the GES hopes to minimize confusion and ensure that students, parents, and teachers are well-prepared for the new academic year. The post was signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi.
