SLTF resumes second semester ahead of the no-fee-stress launch

Students Loan Trust Fund Resumes Loan Disbursement Ahead of “No-Fees-Stress” Launch

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has resumed the disbursement of second-semester loans to tertiary students across the country, marking a renewed effort to improve access to higher education.

This development comes in anticipation of the launch of the “No-Fees-Stress” initiative, an intervention designed to ease the financial burden on students pursuing university and college education.

As of July 1, 2025, loan payments have been made to 19,703 students, with particular attention given to those enrolled in private tertiary institutions. According to the Fund, private institutions often run faster academic calendars than public ones, prompting the early disbursements.

In a statement, the SLTF reaffirmed its readiness and capacity to deliver timely support:

The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over. The revamped Fund is now working daily to fulfil its mandate of providing timely financial support to students.”

The Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, announced the update through a public post, describing the move as a vital step toward enhancing the nation’s student loan system and ensuring that no student is left behind because of financial challenges.

The disbursement aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s tertiary education financing system and build confidence in student support structures.
