Nana Agradaa Jailed 15 Years for Money-Doubling Scam.

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra for defrauding the public through deceptive spiritual claims.

The conviction comes after she was found guilty on multiple counts of charlatanic advertisement and obtaining money by false pretenses. In a highly publicized 2022 broadcast, Agradaa falsely claimed she possessed supernatural powers to double money. Her televised “money-doubling” ritual led many unsuspecting viewers to surrender large sums in hope of instant financial gain, returns that never came.

The court described her actions as deliberate, exploitative, and calculated to defraud vulnerable Ghanaians under the pretense of spiritual assistance. Before the sentencing, a mandatory pregnancy test was conducted, as required by law, which confirmed she was not pregnant, clearing the way for immediate sentencing.

This ruling has been welcomed by a wide section of the public as a bold stand against fraudulent religious schemes. It is being hailed as a precedent-setting judgment in the ongoing national efforts to clamp down on individuals who manipulate religious platforms for personal financial gain.

Legal experts say the case underscores the importance of media regulation and accountability for self-styled spiritual leaders whose deceptive practices continue to harm countless lives.

The court’s firm stance sends a clear message: exploiting the faith and desperation of the public for financial gain will face the full force of the law.
