Government to Roll Out 'No Fees, No Stress' Policy on July 4, 2025

Government to Launch ‘No Fees, No Stress’ Policy on July 4.

In a significant step toward reducing financial pressure on students and their families, the government will officially launch the No Fees, No Stress policy on Thursday, July 4, 2025.

The initiative is aimed at eliminating unapproved levies in public schools and ensuring that no student is denied access to education due to financial constraints.

The launch event will be held at the Accra College of Education Auditorium and is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, heads of schools, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

The No Fees, No Stress policy is part of the broader Education for All agenda. It is expected to bring an end to practices that saddle parents with extra charges under various unofficial labels, especially at the basic and secondary levels. By implementing this policy, the government seeks to strengthen its commitment to equitable access to quality education for all school-aged children.

Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who is expected to officially unveil the policy, has reiterated the government’s resolve to enforce strict compliance. He noted that any institution found charging unapproved fees after the policy takes effect will face disciplinary action.

Many parents and education advocates have welcomed the move, describing it as timely and necessary, especially in light of the country’s current economic challenges. Stakeholders hope the policy will be implemented effectively and monitored closely to avoid abuse.

Further guidelines regarding the enforcement mechanism, reporting channels for violations, and roles of school heads and district directors are expected to be detailed during the launch.

The introduction of the No Fees, No Stress policy signals a renewed national commitment to making education not only accessible but also genuinely free from hidden barriers.
