Finance Minister Assures Monthly Allowance Payments for Teacher and Nursing Trainees.
The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced a major policy shift regarding the payment of allowances to teacher and nursing trainees.Addressing Parliament during the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, he disclosed that going forward, allowances will be paid monthly to eliminate delays and provide consistent financial support.
According to Dr. Forson, an amount of GH¢683 million has been allocated for this initiative, GH¢203 million for teacher trainees and GH¢480 million for nursing trainees. He emphasized that this commitment forms part of the government's broader agenda to improve the welfare of students in the health and education sectors.
The Minister assured stakeholders that the new payment structure takes effect immediately, and trainees will begin receiving their allowances at the end of each month. This move is expected to ease the economic pressures faced by students and strengthen morale in training institutions across the country.
Stakeholders, including educational and healthcare training institutions, have welcomed the announcement, viewing it as a step towards enhancing transparency, accountability, and timely disbursement of student support.
