GES Set to Recruit 2023 Trained Teachers Pending Finance Ministry Approval.

GES Awaits Final Clearance to Begin Recruitment of 2023 Trained Teachers.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to commence the recruitment of teachers who graduated in 2023 from public Colleges of Education, pending final financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

According to the Director-General of GES, Professor Frank Kofi Davis, all internal preparations have been concluded, and the only step left is the release of funds by the Ministry, an essential requirement before the official posting and recruitment process can begin.

This assurance was given during a high-level engagement between the leadership of GES and the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) on June 2, 2025. The TTAG team, led by its President, H.E. Razak Soale, met with key officials of GES including the Head of Legal Affairs, the Internal Auditor, the Head of Public Relations, and the General Secretary.

During the meeting, Professor Davis confirmed that GES has submitted a comprehensive budget covering all qualified graduates and that the proposal has already received approval from both the Ministry of Finance and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education. What remains is the official financial clearance from the Ministry, after which the Service will immediately move forward with recruitment and postings.

Professor Davis also noted that this will be his first recruitment exercise since assuming office and assured TTAG of his commitment to a fair and transparent process. TTAG welcomed the update but stressed the need for urgency, urging the Ministry of Finance to expedite the final clearance so that graduates can begin their professional duties without further delay.

TTAG reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, timely communication, and continued advocacy on behalf of the affected graduates. The association encouraged all awaiting teachers to remain calm and patient as it continues to engage the relevant authorities to ensure that recruitment is carried out promptly.

As it stands, the education sector now awaits the final nod from the Ministry of Finance to unlock opportunities for thousands of newly trained teachers to enter the classroom and begin their teaching careers.
