Education Minister Instructs GES to Sack Teachers Linked to Examination Malpractices.

Education Minister Orders Immediate Sacking of Teachers Aiding Exam Malpractices.

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has issued a strong directive to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately sack any teacher involved in examination malpractices.

His call comes in response to mounting concerns over the declining integrity of national examinations, particularly the alarming involvement of some teachers in actively enabling students to engage in cheating.

Speaking during the 25th anniversary celebration of the International Community School in the Ashanti Region, the Minister expressed serious concern over the increasing use of mobile phones during exams and the role some teachers play in facilitating these dishonest acts.

He described such behaviour as unacceptable and a clear violation of the trust placed in the teaching profession.

Hon. Iddrisu made it clear that teachers found to be supporting or ignoring cheating should not be given a second chance. “The GES has my full backing to sack any teacher who compromises the credibility of our examination system,” he stated.

He urged school heads and supervisors to remain vigilant and to report any form of misconduct without hesitation. The Minister also appealed to parents to discourage their children from relying on unfair means and to promote a culture of hard work and honesty.

According to him, protecting the integrity of Ghana’s education system requires firm action, and that includes removing from the system those who fail to uphold its standards.

Conclusion

This directive marks a significant step toward restoring discipline and accountability within the education sector. Teachers serve as role models, and their actions must reflect the values of integrity and responsibility.

By calling for the immediate dismissal of those who violate examination rules, the Minister has sent a clear message, there is no place for dishonesty in education.
