NTC Calms GTLE Candidates as Education Ministry Reviews Licensure Reform

NTC Reassures GTLE Candidates Amid Ministry’s Review of Teacher Licensure System.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially addressed rising concerns among candidates preparing for or retaking the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
In a recent statement, the Council confirmed it is working closely with the Ministry of Education to resolve outstanding issues related to the examination and licensure process.
Dennis Osei Owusu, the Head of Public Affairs at the NTC, explained that this collaboration is part of the government’s broader “Reset Agenda,” which aims to strengthen and improve educational policies nationwide. To support this effort, the Minister for Education has established a special committee tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of the current teacher licensure regime.
This committee is expected to complete its assessment and submit recommendations by the end of next week. The Ministry will then communicate any important changes or decisions impacting the GTLE and the overall licensing process.
The NTC is appealing to all GTLE candidates, both first-timers and those resitting the exam, to remain patient and composed during this period of review. The Council assures candidates that the Ministry is committed to ensuring that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged by forthcoming policy adjustments.
The announcement comes amid increasing anxiety among many candidates about the timing of the examinations and the eligibility criteria for re-examination. The education sector as a whole hopes that the review will bring about reforms that enhance the fairness, transparency, and efficiency of the teacher licensing process in Ghana.
The NTC has pledged to keep the public and all candidates updated with relevant information promptly following the committee’s report.
For more updates and teaching resources, candidates and teachers are encouraged to join the NTC’s official communication channels on WhatsApp and Telegram.
