National Teaching Council Designates May 21, 2025, as National CPD Day for Online Mental Health Training
This follows the successful completion of the initial phase, which was conducted through face-to-face engagements across all regions.
In a letter addressed to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Council announced that the subsequent phases of the training will be delivered virtually.
To facilitate full participation, the NTC is requesting that Wednesday, 21st May 2025 be declared a National CPD Day, a dedicated day set aside to allow all teachers across the country to engage in the scheduled online sessions without interruption.
The Council further appeals to GES to relay this directive to all Regional and District Directors of Education and to encourage close collaboration with the National CPD Facilitators. This coordinated approach is essential to ensuring the successful implementation of the training modules across all 261 districts.
Master facilitators, who have undergone intensive preparation, are now well-positioned to lead the virtual rollout with competence and consistency.
Included in the correspondence from KATON 360 are the comprehensive training schedules for this term, along with district-specific account details to aid in logistical and administrative coordination.
This initiative reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing teacher capacity in critical areas that affect learner success.
By centring this training on mental health and psychosocial support, the NTC underscores the indispensable role of teacher well-being in shaping safe, responsive, and inclusive learning environments.
All teachers are strongly encouraged to approach this training with professionalism and purpose, as it equips them with practical tools to support both their own mental wellness and that of their learners.
Further details will be communicated through the appropriate channels.
