National Service Authority Governing Board Officially Sworn In
The newly formed board is chaired by Emmanuel Okai Mintah and includes notable figures such as Dr. James Asare Adjei from the Association of Ghana Industries, NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi, Cecilia Sheitu Nyadia from the Ministry of Technology and Innovation, Colonel Frederick Aboagye Kasapa from the Ministry of Defence, and Dr. Wisdom Atiwoto representing the Ministry of Health.
Other members include Emma Ofori Agyemang from the Ministry of Youth Development, Kwabena Denkyira from the Ministry of Local Government, Paul Siamen from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Shadrack Mensah from the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, and Matilda Azumah from the Ministry of Education. In addition, two presidential nominees—Henrietta Asante and Elorm Goh—are also serving on the board.
Delivering a statement on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Youth Development and Empowerment Minister Hon. George Opare-Addo charged the board to bring innovation, accountability, and efficiency to the NSA’s operations. He called on them to resolve long-standing challenges such as the issue of ghost names and emphasized the importance of ensuring that national service personnel gain relevant, practical experience that meets the demands of the evolving job market.
The Minister also reaffirmed the President’s vision of building a generation of graduates who are not only skilled but also patriotic, disciplined, and willing to serve their country with integrity and dedication.
In his acceptance remarks, Board Chair Emmanuel Okai Mintah expressed his appreciation to the President for the trust placed in him and his fellow members. He pledged the board’s commitment to transforming the National Service Authority into a world-class institution capable of addressing key national issues through practical solutions and effective service delivery.
Director-General of the NSA, Felix Gyamfi, also expressed his optimism about the board’s potential, stating that their collective experience and insight would help drive impactful reforms and elevate the Authority’s performance to new heights.
The inauguration marks a significant step forward in efforts to strengthen the National Service Scheme and ensure it remains a valuable tool for national development.
