GES Authorizes Continued Food Procurement for Senior High School
GES Grants Temporary Approval for SHS Food Procurement Extension.
In a recent development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has granted approval for the continued procurement of essential food items by Heads of Public Senior High Schools to ensure uninterrupted feeding of students.
This follows an earlier directive issued by the Ministry of Education, which covered food procurement from 19th February to 30th April 2025.
According to a circular dated 8th May 2025 and signed under reference number GES/HQ/DG/247/25/ED220, the Ministry has extended this arrangement, allowing school authorities to continue purchasing essential food items up to 30th June 2025.
This move comes as part of the government's strategy to ensure timely and adequate food supply to students while maintaining nutritional standards.
The Ministry stated that long-term arrangements for school feeding will be decided in consultation with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS), ensuring a system that guarantees both quality and quantity.
