Dr. Apaak: Government to Reinstate Automatic Teacher Postings with Fairness and Equity

Government to Restore Automatic Teacher Postings with Fairness and Equity – Dr. Apaak

The government has pledged to bring back the automatic posting of newly trained teachers and ensure the process is fair and free from political influence, according to the Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak.

Speaking at the 29th Annual Delegates’ Congress of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) at St. Francis College of Education in Hohoe, Dr. Apaak announced that plans are underway to reinstate the posting system that assigns teachers to service areas directly after training.

He emphasized that the new system would focus on fairness and transparency, guided by data rather than favoritism or political interference.

“We are committed to restoring automatic postings and making the process equitable. Our goal is to ensure every decision is based on data and not influenced by personal or political interests,” he stated.

Dr. Apaak further revealed ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure in Colleges of Education, with particular attention to housing for female students and those with disabilities. He also mentioned plans to introduce financial support for newly trained teachers during their mandatory teaching practice to ease the burden many currently face.

He was responding to concerns raised by TTAG over delays in teacher postings, which they said were causing distress among graduates awaiting deployment.

Dr. Apaak assured the Association that the Ministry is working actively to address the issue and restore confidence in the teacher placement process.
