Minister of education inaugurates GETfund board of Trustees

The Ghana Education Trust Fund has taken a significant step forward with the inauguration of its new 17-member Board of Trustees. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu presided over the ceremony, emphasizing the critical role the Board will play in shaping the country's education landscape.

The Board comprises representatives from various organizations, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ghana Education Service, and other key stakeholders. 

This diverse membership ensures that the Board brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

The Minister highlighted the importance of the Ghana Education Trust Fund in supporting educational initiatives, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and scholarships. 

He noted that the Board's oversight will be crucial in ensuring that funds are used efficiently and effectively.

The Board's primary responsibility will be to provide strategic direction and oversight, ensuring that the Ghana Education Trust Fund achieves its objectives. 

The Minister encouraged the Board to engage with stakeholders, including the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, private enterprises, and development organizations, to enhance resource mobilization.

The Ghana Education Trust Fund will play a key role in supporting the Free Senior High School program, ensuring its sustainability and effective delivery. 

The Minister urged the Board to lead with integrity, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that their decisions are guided by the best interests of students and the nation.

The Board's successful implementation of its plans will depend on effective collaboration and partnership. With the right leadership and commitment, the Ghana Education Trust Fund can make a meaningful impact on the country's education system, addressing infrastructure deficits, promoting equitable access to education, and supporting research and innovation.
