GES and World Bank Initiate Nationwide Survey on STEM, TVET, and ICT Education

GES and World Bank Launch Nationwide Survey on STEM, TVET, and ICT Education.

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the World Bank, has launched a nationwide electronic survey aimed at assessing the current state of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education in Ghana.

A circular dated April 4, 2025, addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, informed that this diagnostic survey will collect general information about STEM and ICT education at both Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) levels.

The results will play a pivotal role in shaping future educational strategies and interventions to improve outcomes in these crucial fields.

The circular, signed by Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Q & A), emphasized that the survey is a key initiative to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in STEM and ICT disciplines.

It outlined that heads of SHS and JHS institutions are expected to fully participate by submitting the required data through a designated electronic platform.

The circular assured that the survey will not collect personal or sensitive data from students or staff, focusing solely on general educational information to assist in policy development and resource allocation.

To facilitate smooth data collection, the country has been divided into four zones, each with its own specific survey links for SHS and JHS levels.

The details of these links have been shared in an accompanying attachment. Regional Directors are tasked with disseminating this information to school heads and encouraging their active participation.

GES stressed that the success of this initiative depends on the timely completion of the survey and the full cooperation of the schools involved.

This collaborative effort underscores Ghana's commitment to strengthening STEM and ICT education through evidence-based decision-making, ensuring that students are better prepared to meet the challenges of the modern world.
