Following a determination that a prima facie case exists, President Mahama, acting in accordance with Article 146(6) of the Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, has established a committee to investigate the allegations brought forward in three separate petitions.

The committee, formed in strict adherence to constitutional provisions, includes the following members:

In line with Article 146(10) and based on the advice of the Council of State, President Mahama has also issued a warrant suspending the Chief Justice with immediate effect.

The suspension will remain in place while the committee conducts its inquiry and submits its findings.

The official communication was made public on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, by Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President.

The nation now awaits the outcome of this high-profile investigation, which could have significant implications for the country’s judiciary and governance.
