Students Loan Trust Fund disburses loans to over 9,400 applicants – Dr Saajida Shiraz

Over 9,400 Students Receive Loan Disbursement from SLTF – Dr. Saajida Shiraz.

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has approved the disbursement of loans to 9,433 students from various tertiary institutions across Ghana, according to the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Saajida Shiraz.


In a Facebook post on Friday, February 28, Dr. Shiraz revealed that the approval followed discussions with student leaders and the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu.


She confirmed that the beneficiaries are drawn from 62 public and private tertiary institutions nationwide.

"Earlier today, I approved the disbursement of student loans to 9,433 students across 62 public and private tertiary institutions in Ghana," she announced.


Dr. Shiraz acknowledged that although the applicants had been waiting for some time, the approval process had experienced delays. She apologized for the inconvenience and assured students that her administration is committed to improving the timeliness of future disbursements.


"I apologise for the late disbursements and promise that under my leadership, the SLTF will be more intentional about ensuring timely disbursements to fulfil our mission of providing prompt financial services to eligible Ghanaian tertiary students," she stated.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to advancing President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda of strengthening tertiary education financing. Additionally, she highlighted ongoing preparations for the successful implementation of the SLTF Plus policy.


The SLTF continues to play a vital role in supporting Ghanaian students by providing financial assistance to ease the burden of tertiary education costs.
