Authorities at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have announced new developments in the investigation of Joana Deladem Yabani’s death, a case that has caused widespread concern within the university community.

A statement issued by the Office of the Registrar confirmed that investigators have made significant progress, with crucial evidence now in their possession.

According to the statement, Joana’s laptop and mobile phone were recovered from a concealed location behind the Flint Hostel. The discovery was facilitated by a thorough review of CCTV footage from the hostel’s security system.

These items are expected to play a key role in advancing the investigation and supporting the prosecution’s case.

Meanwhile, the primary suspect, Daniel Tuffuor, a 21-year-old final-year student, has been remanded into police custody. He was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested additional time for further investigations.

The court granted the request, and Tuffuor is scheduled to reappear on March 17, 2025.

The university reiterated its commitment to cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and the delivery of justice.
