Ghana Education Service Issues Directive on 68th Independence Day Parade and Holiday – March 2025
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released official guidelines regarding the 68th Independence Day celebrations scheduled for Thursday, 6th March 2025.
This year’s commemoration will be held under the theme, “68th Independence Anniversary Celebration: Reflect, Review, Reset,” and will feature a scaled-down parade at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House in Accra.
Unlike previous large-scale parades, this year’s ceremony will see the President inspecting a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces at the Jubilee House.
However, GES emphasizes that district-level parades will still take place across the country. Regional Directors of Education are instructed to inform District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Directors of Education to coordinate with local assemblies to ensure a successful celebration.
Following the parade on 6th March, students who participate will observe a rest day on 7th March.
On this day, schools have the unique opportunity to organize educational visits to key state institutions across Ghana.
These visits provide students with insights into national governance, security operations, and other essential sectors.
Institutions open for tours include the Parliament House, Jubilee House, Ghana Armed Forces Museum, and several others.
Many of these tours are free or offered at reduced costs, encouraging schools to take advantage of the educational experiences available.
GES encourages all educational directors and school authorities to collaborate effectively to uphold the significance of the Independence Day celebrations while providing enriching learning opportunities for students.
