GES Designates March 28 as National Continuous Professional Development Day.

GES Declares March 28 as National Continuous Professional Development Day for Teachers(CPD).

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has formally designated March 28, 2025, as National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day.

This initiative underscores the paramount importance of ongoing professional growth and development for educators across the nation.

The GES directive, issued by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Quality and Assurance), emphasizes the need for teachers to engage in uninterrupted professional development activities, specifically focusing on Mental Health and Well-being Training.

This endeavor prioritizes teacher welfare and professional competence, acknowledging the critical role educators play in shaping the nation's future.

The directive mandates all Regional, Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education to ensure full compliance, guaranteeing that teachers are afforded the necessary time and resources to participate in the training without disruptions.

This initiative aligns with the GES's overarching objective of enhancing teacher development, thereby ensuring educators remain equipped to navigate the complexities of the education sector.

By prioritizing teacher welfare and professional growth, the GES aims to foster a supportive environment that promotes excellence in education.

This proactive approach acknowledges the intrinsic value of continuous professional development in maintaining the highest standards of educational delivery.

The GES has established a comprehensive CPD framework, requiring educators to accumulate a minimum of 20 points annually, comprising 12 points from mandatory training, including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and National CPD Days, and 8 points from targeted and specialized training, encompassing recommended or self-initiated CPDs.

Through this structured approach, the GES seeks to empower educators, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence.
