5 trainee nurses sacked for forging WASSCE certificates to gain admission

Five trainee nurses have been expelled from the Akim Oda Community Health Nurses Training School due to the egregious offense of forging their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results to gain admission.

This severe academic dishonesty has prompted the institution to take decisive action, reiterating its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity.

According to the Principal, Mr. Jones Abeka-Baah, the institution employs a rigorous vetting process to scrutinize every applicant's credentials, ensuring that only those who meet the requisite standards are granted admission.

This stringent approach is designed to maintain the credibility and excellence of the institution.

Forgery of academic certificates is a grave offense in Ghana, punishable under the provisions of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Act 2006 (Act 719).

Those found culpable of this offense can face severe penalties, including imprisonment, fines, and custodial sentences.

The expulsion of the five trainee nurses serves as a stark warning to prospective applicants regarding the consequences of engaging in academic malfeasance.

Educational institutions are taking a firm stance against academic dishonesty, and aspiring healthcare professionals are urged to uphold the highest ethical standards and adhere to merit-based admission processes.

By doing so, they can ensure that their academic pursuits are characterized by integrity, honesty, and a commitment to excellence.
