NIA begins free issuance of Ghana cards at 276 operational district offices
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a public notification reminding citizens that the initial acquisition of the Ghana Card remains complimentary at all 276 Operational District Offices situated throughout the nation.
Conversely, the NIA has introduced a fee structure for premium services rendered at designated Premium Centres, a move aligned with the parliamentary approval garnered in 2023.
The fee structure implemented at Premium Centres encompasses the following services
- First-time issuance of the Ghana Card: GH₵310.00
- Replacement of lost, damaged, or stolen cards: GH₵125.00
- Updates to personal records necessitating the issuance of a new card: GH₵420.00
- Amendments to nationality: GH₵70.00
- Updates to personal records not requiring a new card: complimentary at district offices, GH₵310.00 at Premium Centres
Through this initiative, the NIA seeks to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining transparency in its service charges. Citizens are encouraged to capitalize on the complimentary services offered at district offices, while premium services are available at Premium Centres for a fee. The Ghana Card.
