TTAG Voices Concerns Over Omission from Teacher Licensure Review Committee

TTAG Raises Concerns Over Exclusion from Teacher Licensure Review Committee.

The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) has expressed profound concern regarding its exclusion from the committee tasked with reviewing the Ghana Teacher Licensure system.

According to TTAG, being a major stakeholder in teacher education, its input is crucial in shaping the future of teacher licensing procedures. The Association emphasizes that sidelining trainee teachers' voices could have adverse implications for their interests nationwide.

TTAG clarifies that it has not entered into any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning teacher licensing matters, underscoring the need for greater transparency and stakeholder engagement in the review process.

The Association is adamant that representatives of trainee teachers should be integral to all discussions and decision-making processes regarding the review and future of licensing procedures.

This concern contributes to ongoing debates surrounding the teacher licensure system in Ghana, with other educational bodies like the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) having previously raised pertinent issues.

TTAG asserts that the perspectives of trainee teachers must be actively considered to ensure the development of a fair and inclusive educational system.

In light of this, TTAG is urging the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the National Teaching Council (NTC) to prioritize the inclusion of trainee teacher representatives in all deliberations and decisions pertaining to the review of the teacher licensure system.

By doing so, the interests of trainee teachers can be adequately represented, and their future prospects in the teaching profession can be safeguarded.
